Meet Gus a 7-Year-Old Lab x Husky Mix

Gus is a "ready-made" family companion with a gentle, patient soul. Having lived with the same family since he was a year old, he has grown up alongside a child and is a proven, trustworthy friend to humans of all ages. He is at that perfect age where he has outgrown puppy chaos but still has plenty of love and life to give.
The Ideal Home:
Gus would thrive in a home that appreciates a dog who wants to be part of the furniture. He is a "velcro dog" at heart who loves sofa cuddles and sleeping at the foot of the bed. Because he can be sensitive to change, he needs a patient owner who understands that "perfection" takes a few weeks to settle in.
Key Personality Traits & Manners
* Other Dogs: Gus has several dog friends but is a "polite society" kind of guy. He does not like strange dogs charging at him or being "rude." He prefers slow, calm introductions.
* House Training: 100% reliable once settled. Please note: He may have "nervous accidents" in the first few days of a new environment while he finds his bearings.
* Home Alone: Gus is happy to stay home for short periods if provided with a crate. Without a crate, he can become anxious and may scratch at doors to find his people.
* Children: Gus has lived with children for years and is very good around them. However due to his size we would consider families with children over 10 years old.
* Cats: He currently lives successfully with three cats. However, he does have a high prey drive for "intruder" cats in the garden. He needs slow, managed introductions to any new feline siblings.
Health & Diet
* Status: Neutered and DNA tested.
* Skin Care: Gus suffers from "yeasty skin." This is easily managed by his diet—he must stay on a grain-free and chicken-free diet to keep his skin healthy and itch-free.
* Exercise: He still loves his walks, though he is a "puller" on the lead. His recall is about 50/50, so he is best kept on a long-line lead in unenclosed spaces.
The "Gus" Quirks
* Travel: He can be a nervous traveler on long journeys. The "hack" for a happy Gus is a long walk right before getting in the car.
* Spooks: Like many dogs, fireworks are his nemesis. He needs a secure, indoor "safe space" during celebrations.
* The Reward: In exchange for a grain-free treat and a spot on the sofa, Gus will give you total, unwavering loyalty.
