Description
Meet Max, a 1 year old Jack Russell cross breed who is full of energy and is an extremely loving dog when he's gotten to know you.
We adopted max at 8 months old and he is sadly not the right fit for our family home. To be completely honest, Max would be best going to a home with either no children or children above possibly 12 years old+, and potentially another dog for him to bond with, depending on how they are when they meet as he can take a while for him to warm up to other dogs.
He will require some further training, he can sometimes pull on the lead, and can be a bit skittish/reactive on lead around other dogs and people when they get too close, however has never bitten to my knowledge and is playful off lead (we have taken Max to some dog socialisation classes where he has been doing well, we think it may be barrier frustration as he just wants to go and sniff everyone). He does have some recall training, however new owners will need to reinforce this with him as he will still sometimes run towards other dogs as he can get a bit over excited.
Max loves treat puzzles and sniff mats, and is very fond of sticks when out on walks. Max can also be a bit of a couch potato, hes happy to go out and explore the world, however he also loves a chill out and a cuddle on the couch. Max is crate trained and knows basic commands such as sit, paw and 'in your bed' as he sleeps in his crate overnight. He's also very well behaved when left at home when we're at work, we leave him in the kitchen with the crate door open and hes never tried to chew anything. He will bark at the door if he hears the doorbell or someone knocking, but he's quite quick to warm up to new people (especially once hes had a sniff and a treat).
We want max to go to a loving home, where he will get the love and attention he deserves. Its been a difficult decision for us, so he will only be going to someone who we think will be a good fit.
Max is currently chemically castrated, and the implant will wear off by December, so it would be a decision for the new family whether they want to fully castrate Max, carry on with the implants or leave it to wear off.
