Description
Fen is a beautiful 3 year old red merle Border Collie with striking ice-blue eyes, born 03/06/2023. He is available to stud to suitable, healthy bitches.
While his looks are often the first thing people notice, Fen offers far more than appearance alone. He is an exceptionally intelligent and highly trainable dog who has consistently shown outstanding potential across a variety of disciplines. He learns new skills with remarkable speed, has a fantastic work ethic, and combines enthusiasm for training with a natural desire to please.
Fen has shown great potential in flyball, obedience and freestyle heelwork to music, where he has consistently impressed with his trainability, enthusiasm and rapid progression.
In flyball he consistently runs clean and has achieved a personal best time of 3.98 seconds, earning multiple rosettes along the way. Still a young dog, he continues to mature and has been regularly lowering his personal best times in recent competitions, suggesting there is still plenty of untapped potential to come.
He has also shown great promise in both obedience and freestyle heelwork to music, where he works with enthusiasm and precision and knows a wide range of tricks.
Temperament is one of Fen’s greatest strengths. He is a confident and adaptable dog who takes new environments, training situations and competitions in his stride. He is friendly with people, gentle around small children, and gets on well with the vast majority of dogs. At home he has an excellent off-switch and is equally happy relaxing on the sofa as he is working and training. He can be left alone without issue and is a well-balanced, easy-going member of the family.
Fen has been DNA tested and health checked through Embark and is clear of all 273 genetic health conditions screened, with no genetic risk factors identified. He is also confirmed as 100% Border Collie through DNA testing, however he does not hold pedigree registration papers. Hip and elbow scoring is planned in the near future.
He has also undergone semen analysis with the following results: volume 4.1ml, concentration 54 million/ml, with 90% progressive motility and an estimated total progressive sperm count of nearly 20 million, indicating excellent fertility and reproductive health.
Fen will not be bred to any merle bitches under any circumstances as responsible breeding practices are a priority.
Stud services will be carried out at a professional fertility clinic in Doncaster to ensure safety, hygiene and optimal success rates where artificial insemination can also be used if required.
A free return service (one repeat mating) will be offered if the bitch does not conceive.
