Description
It is with a heavy heart that I am looking to find a new home for my dog, Honey.
Honey is a healthy dog who is up to date with her vaccinations and regular vet checks. She is not yet spayed; she has had two seasons and the next planned step was to arrange her spay.
Honey has a lovely temperament with adults, children and friendly dogs. She is affectionate, loyal and enjoys being around people.
She is house trained and crate trained, can show separation anxiety when left for 4+ hours and knows a range of basic commands including sit, stay, come, down, look. She is intelligent and eager to learn, although as a strong-minded breed she can be stubborn at times and her recall is still a work in progress. And I started scent training with her.
Honey does display high arousal, impulsivity and prey-drive behaviours, so she would not be suitable to live with cats, small animals or other small pets. She can be excitable around fast movement, therefore she would be best suited to a home with adults only or older, calm children. She can also react to dogs displaying aggressive behaviour, although this is something I have been actively working on and she has been able to socialise successfully off lead with friendly dogs.
I am seeking an experienced owner who understands the hound breed and is willing to continue her training and provide the structure and consistency she thrives on. An active home with a secure garden is essential.
The reason for rehoming is I'm unable to give her structure due to very frustrating ongoing health issues, and the challenges of managing her needs as a single-parent household. This decision has not been made lightly, but I want to ensure Honey has the routine, exercise and lifestyle she deserves.
The right home is far more important than a quick home, and I am happy to answer any questions from genuinely interested adopters.
