With incredibly heavy hearts, we are looking for the perfect forever home for our cat, Duchess. Duchess is a gorgeous purebred Scottish Straight mackerel tabby and has been a much-loved member of our family for the past 8 years. This is a decision we have not made lightly. We love her so much, but we feel the kindest thing for her is to find a quieter environment where she can feel safe, settled and enjoy the rest of her life. Duchess is the most loving girl and will happily sit with you for hours having cuddles. She absolutely loves her food (she is a little round around the edges, but very healthy!) and has such a sweet, gentle personality. She is an indoor-only cat, although she does enjoy supervised access to the garden. She is happy with visitors as long as they are calm and gentle, but she is a sensitive soul and can become spooked by lots of noise. She has always been a sensitive cat, and after our baby arrived she became increasingly stressed. This has been checked by our vet and there is no medical cause; it appears to be stress-related. Over time, our home has become even busier with another cat, a dog, a young child, and now an upcoming house move, and we feel this environment is no longer the right one for her. We have tried our best to make things work because she is such a special part of our family, but it is unfair to keep her in an environment where she is struggling. We believe she would truly thrive in a calm, quiet home where she can have a predictable routine and lots of one-to-one love. Duchess would be best suited as the only pet and in a home without young children, where she can relax and be the centre of attention. We feel she deserves to spend the rest of her life feeling safe, happy and settled. She is neutered and up to date with her vaccinations. Because we love her so much, we will be taking the time to thoroughly vet anyone interested in offering her a home. This is not something we are doing lightly, and our priority is making sure Duchess goes to someone who truly understands her needs and can give her the peaceful, loving life she deserves. Please only get in touch if you are genuinely able to provide the calm, child-free and pet-free environment Duchess needs to thrive. We want to find the right person for her, not just any home. Duchess has been a cherished part of our family for 8 years, and this decision is heartbreaking.
