Description
It breaks my heart to make this decision, but sadly, due to my move back to Poland and the fact that I will not be able to keep pets where I will be living, I have to find Luna a new home. This decision has nothing to do with Luna herself. She is a wonderful little dog, but unfortunately my move and future accommodation mean I can no longer give her the home she deserves.
Luna is a 3-year-old Shiffon (Shih Tzu × Belgian Griffon cross). She weighs 3.8 kg and measures approximately 25 cm in height and 42 cm in length. Although she is an adult, she still has the playful, cheerful personality of a puppy.
She is a very affectionate little dog who loves being around people and enjoys being part of everyday family life. She loves cuddles just as much as playtime and would be happiest in a home where she can spend plenty of time with her family.
Although she prefers company, Luna can stay home alone while her owner is at work. She does not howl, bark excessively or destroy furniture when left on her own.
Luna is house-trained and does her toilet outside. She is used to a regular walking routine and does best when taken out at consistent times, as she does not clearly signal when she needs to go outside. With a regular routine, she has no problems with house training.
She knows basic commands such as "sit" and has learned to wait patiently before eating until she is given permission, even when her food bowl is already full.
Around unfamiliar larger dogs she can initially be nervous and may bark. Once she becomes familiar with another dog, she is friendly and gets along well. She previously lived with another dog without any issues. She has never shown interest in chasing or barking at cats during walks, although she has never lived with one.
Luna has a small umbilical hernia. My veterinarian examined it and advised that it was not urgent to repair. The recommendation was to wait and, if Luna was ever spayed, repair the hernia during the same procedure under one anaesthetic. As Luna was never spayed, the hernia has simply remained under observation and has never caused her any problems. I believe it is important to mention this so her new owner is fully informed and can discuss any future treatment with their own veterinarian.
Apart from the small umbilical hernia described above, Luna is in good health.
She is microchipped and has a valid EU pet passport with her rabies vaccination recorded. She also received her routine puppy vaccinations, although unfortunately I no longer have her original vaccination record booklet. She has been regularly wormed.
Luna travels well in the car. She can become excited and sometimes makes quiet whining or grumbling noises during the journey, but she settles down well. She is not a big fan of grooming and can become impatient during brushing or clipping, although she allows it to be done.
Like many small dogs, Luna is very food-motivated and may beg for food while people are eating. This is a habit I was never fully able to train out of her.
Finding the right home is far more important to me than finding one quickly. I may ask a few questions to make sure Luna is going to the best possible family, as I want her to be loved and cared for as a true member of the family.
If you think you could offer Luna the forever home she deserves, please feel free to get in touch. I will be happy to answer any questions.
