Description
I currently have 7 Welsh Harlequin duck eggs in incubation, with hatch expected in early March (subject to a successful hatch).
This advert is for expressions of interest only at this stage — ducklings are not yet available, and availability will depend entirely on hatch success and post-hatch viability.
All eggs have been candled and are fertilised and developing well so far.

🧬 About the parents
The parent Welsh Harlequin ducks are rare-breed, free-range birds, raised with a strong focus on temperament, welfare, and correct husbandry.
They are:
• Fully free range
• Handled daily
• Extremely playful, curious, and sociable
• Confident around people and actively seek interaction
• Responsive to verbal cues and routine
• Calm, friendly, and easy to manage
They have been raised in a mixed-animal environment and are:
• Regularly around rabbits
• Regularly around cats
• Showing no issues with aggression, fear, or stress
This has contributed to their relaxed, confident nature, which is a key reason for breeding from them.

🐣 Incubation & rearing
Eggs are being incubated using a controlled, monitored incubator with appropriate temperature, humidity, and automatic turning. Incubation is carefully managed rather than rushed or mass-produced.
Any ducklings that hatch will be:
• Monitored closely from hatch
• Raised with correct nutrition and care
• Handled appropriately from an early age
• Provided with a calm, clean environment
I breed on a very small scale only, prioritising health, temperament, and suitable homes over numbers.
⸻
🏡 Homes & expectations
Welsh Harlequin ducks are:
• Hardy
• Excellent layers
• Friendly and people-orientated
• Well suited to family homes and smallholdings
They do best in:
• Pairs or small groups
• Secure outdoor environments
• Homes committed to proper long-term care
I’m happy to answer questions and discuss suitability to ensure the right match.

📌 Important information
• Expressions of interest only at this stage
• No guarantees on hatch numbers or sex
• No deposits taken until after hatch
• Updates will be provided once ducklings have safely hatched
Ducklings will be £35 each.
Welsh Harlequin ducks are a social species, and for welfare reasons I strongly prefer ducklings to go to pairs or groups, or to homes where suitable ducks are already kept. Single ducklings will not be placed into homes where they would be kept alone.
All ducklings will be sold unsexed unless sex becomes clear later (I will be able to suggest the sex of each but this is not 100% accurate at such a young age. Pricing reflects the care, handling, and small-scale, welfare-focused breeding approach.
Priority will always be given to knowledgeable and suitable homes rather than on a first-come basis.
Collection by arrangement once ducklings are ready.
