Approx. 15.2/15.3hh, 4-year-old Irish Sport Horse cross mare.
Dolly has been owned by me for the last 2 years and her full background is known. Her Dad is an ISH show jumper (pics available at request of both parents) This is a very difficult decision and absolutely no fault of her own. I simply feel she would benefit from a more experienced, confident home to continue her education.
She has been started with groundwork. She has been lunged, introduced to poles and a training aid, and has begun lessons with a trainer. She has not been backed as I have taken my time with her. She does have tack that can come with her.
She has had the farrier, up to date with dentist, vaccinations, worming and physio. Lives out in a mixed herd and is currently barefoot.
She is still a typical immature youngster and can be opinionated. She is not nasty, but she will question boundaries and requires a calm, confident handler who is happy to be consistent with her training. She is naturally more “whoa” than “go” and can lack motivation on the lunge without confident direction. Like many young horses, she has had moments of testing boundaries, particularly when herd-bound or unsettled by changes in the field.
She has never been rushed and still has plenty of growing and maturing to do. I believe she has a lovely future with someone who enjoys producing fit, competitive, young horses and has the experience to bring out the best in her.
Dolly is not a first horse or a novice project. She deserves a knowledgeable home that understands young horses and is willing to continue her education at her pace.
