We were contacted by another rescue with an urgent plea. They have done everything they possibly can to keep beautiful Sylvie out of kennels, but sadly her owner has recently been diagnosed with a serious health condition and is no longer able to care for her.
They have advertised her, involved the Blue Cross and searched everywhere for a suitable home... but time is running out.
They know Sylvie. They know how much she struggled in kennels before. And they are desperately trying to stop her having to go back there.
Of course, we are already full... but how could we say no? Now we urgently need someone willing to become Sylvie's bridge to her forever home.
🐾 Meet Sylvie
Sylvie is a beautiful 3–4-year-old Greyhound, around 29–30 kg, with the sweetest, gentlest nature.

• DOGS: Friendly with medium and large dogs, could live with another calm dog or happily be an only dog
• CATS: Not suitable (high prey drive)
• SMALL DOGS: Not suitable due to chase instinct
• CHILDREN: Older, calm children or adult-only home preferred
💔 Why Does Sylvie Need Help?
Sylvie had only just started settling into what everyone hoped would be her forever home when life changed overnight. Her owner has sadly been diagnosed with a serious health condition and, with great sadness, knows she won't be able to care for Sylvie in the future.
Rather than waiting until it becomes a crisis, she has made the heartbreaking decision to ask for help now. The rescue's biggest fear isn't finding Sylvie another family... It's having to send her back into kennels.
🐾 More About Sylvie
Sylvie is one of those dogs who quietly steals your heart.
She can be a little worried when meeting new people, often hanging back at first, but give her a few minutes, a gentle approach... and perhaps a little chicken... and she quickly decides you're a friend. Once she trusts you, she becomes wonderfully affectionate, leaning into strokes and nudging for more fuss.
She absolutely adores home comforts. The sofa is one of her favourite places in the world, and if she's comfortably settled you may even need to tempt her off it with treats before a walk!
She enjoys exploring at her own pace, loves sniffing, sunbathing and, when she feels safe, bursts into joyful greyhound zoomies that are guaranteed to make you smile.
Sylvie is wonderfully friendly with other dogs, greeting them calmly and politely, and previously lived happily alongside another Greyhound during her racing days. She could happily live with another sensible dog or equally enjoy being your one and only.
She isn't frightened by household noises and generally settles beautifully in a home environment.
One thing she does find difficult is busy kennel life. During her assessment she became very distressed whenever people constantly passed her kennel, barking and whining because the noisy environment overwhelmed her. Once away from that setting, she relaxes into the calm, gentle dog she truly is.
She also isn't a fan of getting into cars and currently needs help building confidence around travelling, although once she's inside she copes well.
🏡 Ideal Home
Sylvie would love a peaceful home where life moves at a gentler pace. A secure garden would be wonderful, along with people who understand that sensitive dogs sometimes need a little time before showing just how loving they really are.
She could happily live with another calm medium or large dog, or equally enjoy life as the only dog soaking up all the affection herself.
Most of all... She needs someone willing to stop her world becoming a kennel again.
💞 Sylvie has finally discovered what a home feels like. Please... let's not make her lose it all over again.
🩺 Health Information
Sylvie is spayed, fully vaccinated and microchipped.
Like many ex-racing Greyhounds, she carries some lasting injuries from her previous life on the track. She has chronic damage to both Achilles tendons, which means she needs short, controlled walks on flat ground rather than long or strenuous exercise. She remains happy to enjoy her walks, loves exploring and sunbathing, but an active hiking lifestyle would not be suitable for her. But walks up to an hour are ok.
In July 2026, Sylvie also underwent amputation of one toe on her left hind foot following an old injury that could not be repaired. She has recovered well from surgery, is weight-bearing normally and continues to enjoy a good quality of life.
To keep her comfortable, Sylvie receives Gabapentin three time
