Description

Livi is a medium sized female weighing approximately 25kg. She is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. She has no known medical conditions and is not currently receiving any medication. Livi was rescued from the streets of Romania in February 2025 in very poor condition and severely underweight. After several weeks of care and feeding she recovered well and travelled to the UK in March 2025, where she moved into a foster home in Cheshire. After three months her foster carer decided to adopt her. She has remained in that home since, however behavioural issues within the household have led to the difficult decision to seek a new home for her. Livi currently lives with two children aged 10 and 14. She showed a clear dislike towards the older child and although she initially appeared to like the younger child, there has been an incident where she bit him when he approached her while she was under the table guarding a bone. Due to this behaviour around children it would be safest for Livi to live in an adult only home. She currently lives with two other dogs, a 10 year old female Great Dane and a 3 year old neutered male Cockapoo. Livi strongly dislikes the Great Dane and has never settled with her. Her relationship with the Cockapoo improved after around a month of living together but she will still occasionally attack him without any obvious trigger, pinning him down while growling. Due to these ongoing issues it is felt that Livi would be best suited to living as the only dog in her new home. In contrast, Livi is described as being amazing with cats. She currently lives with cats and interacts with them calmly and gently. Livi struggles significantly with visitors to the home. She growls and barks at strangers and remains wary even of family members who visit regularly. She is particularly uncomfortable with men and if they attempt to stroke her she may bite. There have been several incidents where she has reacted defensively when people approached or attempted to interact with her. Livi has bitten in a number of situations. One incident involved her guarding a bone while resting under the table when the younger child approached her. On another occasion she bit a family member who had been sitting nearby for some time when they reached down to stroke her. There was also an incident involving a regular visitor who had gradually been building trust with her by respecting her space and offering treats; once the treats stopped she attempted to bite him. These incidents suggest that she can react defensively when she feels threatened, crowded or when resources are involved. Livi does show some resource guarding behaviour, particularly around high value items such as bones. She often chooses to rest under the kitchen table where one of her beds is located and can become defensive if approached while she is there with something she values. On walks Livi generally behaves well. She walks nicely on a lead using a choker collar and long rope lead and tends to stay close to her handler. She remains wary of unfamiliar people but with reassurance is usually able to pass them calmly. In secure areas she may sometimes ignore recall and wander off before returning, so she should only be allowed off lead in safe and enclosed spaces. Livi is fully toilet trained and crate trained. She initially enjoyed her crate but now prefers sleeping in one of her two beds, one located in the bathroom and another under the kitchen table. She settles well overnight, usually sleeping from around 9pm until around 6am. During the day she can be left alone for around three to four hours and remains calm and non destructive. She travels well in the car and generally enjoys walking and spending time with her trusted person. She dislikes unfamiliar dogs and busy or unpredictable environments, but enjoys calm surroundings and quiet companionship. Her current owner feels that Livi would do best in a quiet home with a single female owner where she can have a calm and predictable routine. She enjoys close companionship with the person she trusts but struggles in busy households with visitors or other dogs. Despite her challenges she is described as loving and loyal with her person, enjoying walks, peaceful time in the garden and quiet companionship. Her owner has confirmed that she is able to remain in her current home until a suitable foster or adoptive placement is found, as they would prefer to avoid kennels while the right home is located.
