Handsome Sam is a neutered Poodle cross with a huge personality and an even bigger heart. Through no fault of his own, a change in his family’s circumstances means he’s now searching for a loving new home where he can enjoy his golden years. Sam is a wonderful mix of adventure and affection. He loves getting out and about for walks and would thrive with an active person or couple who enjoy exploring. Since receiving regular walks with a local dog walker, his previous separation anxiety has improved enormously. Once he’s home, he’s happiest curled up beside you as a devoted little lap dog. Sam enjoys the company of other dogs and could happily live as an only dog or with a friendly canine companion. ❤️ Sam’s Ideal Home • An active adult home, or one with sensible older teenagers. • Someone who can continue providing him with regular exercise and plenty of companionship. • A family who will enjoy having a loyal shadow by their side. 🍽️ Diet & Health Sam has had pancreatitis flare-ups in the past, but this has been successfully managed with the correct diet and medication. His new owner will need to continue feeding him Hill’s Prescription Diet z/d Low Fat Hydrolyzed Soy Recipe Dry Dog Food exclusively, along with suitable low-fat treats. Keeping to this diet is essential to help prevent future flare-ups. Sam also takes: • Omeprazole once daily to help keep his pancreatitis well managed. • Apoquel, only as required, to control seasonal itchiness, which is usually most noticeable during the summer months. 🍖 Food Awareness Sam is very food motivated and may scavenge if given the opportunity. If he finds food, he may guard it by growling and could bite if someone attempts to remove it from him. This behaviour is easily managed with sensible food management, preventing access to unattended food, and using positive handling techniques. 🩺 Health Sam is a much-loved boy who has been exceptionally well cared for throughout his life. He is: • ✅ Neutered • ✅ Fully up to date with his annual vaccinations, including kennel cough • ✅ Up to date with flea and worming treatments 🐾 In Summary Sam is a bright, affectionate and characterful little dog with so much love still to give. He’s looking for someone who will appreciate his fun-loving personality, understand his small management needs, and give him the active, loving home he deserves.
