Francis is an incredibly lovable, funny and cheeky little boy who has the sweetest personality once he trusts you.
He absolutely adores belly rubs and morning cuddles, makes hilarious little noises when he wants attention, and will happily spend most of his day curled up beside his humans. He’s a very affectionate dog who forms strong bonds with his people and loves being involved in daily life.
Francis also has a playful side and LOVES toys, zoomies and adventures. He gets very excited for walks and would happily explore forever if you let him 😂
He’s currently in foster with us alongside multiple other dogs (Doberman and Golden retriever) and has settled in beautifully.
🐾 Francis’ Story
Francis was rescued from the streets of Bosnia and eventually made his way to the UK where he found a loving family.
Sadly, due to severe allergies within the home, they made the heartbreaking decision to give him up, through absolutely no fault of his own.
He has since spent time in kennels and is now back enjoying home life in foster while we search for the perfect forever family for him 💛
✨ Personality & Home Life
Francis is a really happy little chap with so much love to give.
He can be left home alone once settled, although as with many rescue dogs he may initially regress slightly in a new environment while he decompresses and learns his new routine.
He’s house trained, loves soft cosy spaces and enjoys spending time near his people. He can be cheeky at times too, if he wants attention or a space on the sofa he’ll let out a tiny bark to let you know 😂
Francis can sometimes be nervous of new places, sudden noises and unfamiliar environments, especially in the dark. When unsure, he may walk faster, become more alert or seem subdued while he processes things around him.
He needs adopters who understand that confidence building takes time and that rescue dogs thrive when allowed to settle at their own pace without pressure.
🐕 Walks & Dogs
Francis absolutely LOVES walks and gets so excited to head out.
He has made really lovely progress with his lead walking and confidence, however he can still be reactive when worried or overwhelmed. This mainly comes from anxiety rather than aggression.
Outside of the home he can initially feel unsure around dogs and strangers, but once he feels safe and confident he is able to build positive relationships.
He previously lived successfully with a German Shepherd after slow introductions and is currently living in foster with multiple dogs. Because of this, we believe he could live with another calm, respectful dog following sensible introductions and decompression.
🩺 Health
Francis underwent surgery in June 2023 for Legg Perthes Disease, where he had a Femoral Head & Neck removal due to pain in his hip joint.
Since recovering, Francis has absolutely flourished and is now back to being playful, loving and active again. His previous pain had understandably impacted his confidence and handling at the time, but he is now a completely different dog.
He still doesn’t enjoy being picked up, so this should be respected by his future family.
Francis also has a sensitive tummy, so guidance on foods and management will be shared with his adopters.
He has worked with a behaviourist previously and all advice/support can be passed onto his forever home.

Francis is looking for a patient, kind and understanding home that will continue building his confidence and allow him time to settle properly.
He would suit adopters who understand rescue dogs, appreciate the decompression process and are willing to let him adjust at his own pace.
