Description
It breaks our hearts to be writing this, but we’re looking for a new home for our beautiful 9 month old Springador, Dottie.
We only brought Dottie home yesterday, but unfortunately we weren’t given an accurate picture of her training, energy levels, or the amount of time and commitment she needs. We have a toddler who understandably takes up most of our time, and it’s become clear that Dottie deserves a home where someone can give her the attention, exercise, and training she needs to thrive.
What We’ve Taught Dottie
Although we’ve only had Dottie for a very short time, she’s proved to be incredibly clever and eager to learn. She was originally called Ella, but we’ve renamed her Dottie, and she’s adapted brilliantly, already responding confidently to her new name.
In just a day, she’s picked up several routines and has shown she’s very food-motivated and enjoys learning. We’ve taught her to:
* Wait calmly at the roadside before crossing.
* Wait patiently for her food until she’s given the cue to eat.
* Settle on her bed during meal preparation instead of being under your feet.
She’s a quick learner with lots of potential, and with someone who has the time to continue her training, we’re sure she’ll make an amazing companion. She can also sit and do paw and lay down when told.
Dottie is such a sweet, loving girl with a wonderful nature, she hasn’t barked at all since we have had her and is absolutely amazing with our 20 month old daughter. She has so much potential and would be an amazing companion for someone with an active lifestyle who has the time to invest in her.
This has been an incredibly difficult decision, and we’re not looking to pass her on lightly. Our priority is finding the right forever home where she’ll be loved and cared for.
