🐾 Meet Trixie
Trixie is a beautiful, gentle girl who has travelled all the way from North Macedonia to start her new life in the UK. 💛
Trixie and her siblings were rescued from the side of the road as tiny puppies after their mum had reportedly hidden them beneath rocks to try to keep them safe.
Sadly, due to circumstances surrounding their rescue, Trixie spent much of the first year of her life living in a private kennel environment. Missing out on so many important experiences during her puppyhood understandably left her timid and unsure of the world.
But timid does not define Trixie.
Underneath is an incredibly affectionate, joyful little soul who desperately wants to connect with her humans. 🥹
Since moving from kennels into a home with her rescuer, she has made incredible progress and shown everyone exactly who the real Trixie is.
💛 Personality
Once Trixie trusts you, she absolutely LOVES you.
She formed an incredibly special bond with her previous carer, following her around the house, responding happily when she heard her voice and actively seeking her out for attention and cuddles.
Her carer described the house as feeling empty without her when she left for the ‘happy bus’ because her happy, positive energy was so noticeable. 🥹
She’s also:

Trixie responds beautifully to gentle voices, patience and positive reinforcement.
She can be wary of sudden movements, so she needs people who will initially approach her calmly and allow her to build trust at her own pace.
Her previous carer found that food was an amazing tool for building her confidence, apparently, a little piece of chicken goes a VERY long way with Trixie! 😂❤️
🏡 Home Life
Trixie has already experienced living within a busy foster home alongside 10+ other dogs of different sizes and personalities and did brilliantly.
Having a safe space she can retreat to will be really important while she adjusts to another new home.
She can also be frightened by storms and strong winds, so her future family will need to offer her reassurance and somewhere cosy and secure when the weather gets scary.
Trixie has experience walking in a harness and is very food motivated, which should be a huge help with continuing her training.
As she is brand new to foster life with us in the UK, we’ll continue updating her advert as we learn more about:

Other dogs have played an important role in helping her confidence and she watches trusted dogs to understand that situations are safe. Because of this, we believe Trixie will likely be happiest living with another friendly, confident resident dog who can help show her the ropes. She’ll be living with a minimum of 2 other dogs here with us
Trixie has previously been around children and has been described by her carer as excellent with them.Because she can still be sensitive to sudden movements, we feel calm, dog savvy children who understand how to respect a dog's space would be the best match.
Trixie has encountered cats at her veterinary practice and was reportedly completely comfortable around them.However, she has not lived with cats in a home environment, so we don't consider this a full cat test and would not want to guarantee compatibility based on this alone.
