He arrived in the UK in the middle of May and was welcomed by a truly wonderful family. They loved him from the very beginning, and he loved them too. Sadly, as the weeks passed, it became clear that Macho was carrying much deeper anxiety than anyone could have predicted. Instead of gradually becoming more independent, he became completely attached to his new mum, seeing her as his safe place in a confusing world. Unfortunately, that anxiety has now become focused on the family's 14-year-old son. Although nothing has ever happened to cause it, Macho has started barking and lunging at him inside the home. This is not son's fault, and it isn't because Macho is a bad dog. It is simply anxiety choosing the wrong outlet. With a heavy heart, the family have asked us to find Macho more suitable home. 🐾 Meet Macho Macho is a 1½-year-old medium-sized boy with the gentlest soul and very loving heart. He isn't a confident dog pretending to be brave. He's a sensitive dog trying very hard to feel safe. We believe he will really benefit of canine companion. ✨ Highlights ✨ • SIZE: Smaller side of Medium, just little above the knee (50 cm / 19 kg) • NEUTERED: Yes • CHARACTER: Gentle • Intelligent • Loyal • Sensitive • Affectionate • DOGS: Good, will benefit from friendly, confident resident female dog • CATS: Friendly • CHILDREN: Younger calm children 8+ fine, but might struggle with teenage boys 💔 Rescue Story Macho was found as a puppy at a bus stop — alone, with no one looking for him. He was lucky to be adopted by a single man and finally had a real home. But life changed suddenly — his owner became seriously ill and had to spend all his time in hospital. There was no choice but to let Macho go again… 🐾 More About Macho Reading his current family's words, one thing becomes incredibly clear. Macho is a truly lovely dog. He absolutely adores walks and comes alive outdoors. Woods, fields and quiet green spaces are his happy place. He walks beautifully on lead and has recently begun enjoying off-lead walks too. He loves other dogs and gains enormous confidence from them. In fact, we now believe another calm, friendly resident dog isn't simply desirable for Macho—it is essential. He has lived beautifully with a cat, happily allowing the cat to eat from his bowl without any concern. He is perfectly house-trained, sleeps through the night, loves treats, has gained healthy weight since arriving in the UK and has recovered completely from a bacterial stomach infection. His foster family describe him as incredibly intelligent, affectionate and deeply loyal. He simply loves with his whole heart. 🏡 Ideal Home Macho is looking for a quiet household in a peaceful location, with a secure garden and at least one friendly, confident female dog. Ideally it’s a home with women only, or family with very much understanding, patient and kind man. Busy streets, crowded environments and constant visitors are not what Macho needs. Fields. Woodland walks. Routine. Patience. Kindness. Canine companionship. These are the things that help him feel safe and happy. 💞 Rescue isn't about finding a dog any home. It's about finding the right home. We truly believe that somewhere there is a family perfectly matched to Macho's gentle, sensitive nature and whom he will become an extraordinary companion. Now we just need to find the people who can help him feel that way forever. 🩺 Health Information Macho is healthy, neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.
