Description
We are looking for a loving new home for our ginger, gentle giant.
Due to no fault of his own, we have had to make the heartbreaking decision to rehome him.
He is an absolutely beautiful Dogue, gorgeous looking, solid-bodied and a great temperament.
He is nearly 5 years old, and we have had him since he was 8 weeks old.
He has grown up with other dogs, birds, small animals and children (we have 6). Our youngest son is now 11 years old, and they are best friends.
He is laid back, friendly, cuddly and loves to be with people. He will follow you around and be your new shadow. He looks and acts dopey, he is soft and gentle.
He loves to have a good snooze on the settee next to you, and will sometimes still try to sit on your lap!
He doesn’t really bark very much, even when other dogs bark - it can take him a minute to realise that everyone is barking and is usually late to join in.
Memphis gets excited to see his favourite people, and usually brings them a toy or teddy (his binky) and will wag his whole body while grumbling happily to show you his toy and that he’s happy you’re home!
He is crate trained and will happily sleep loose or in a crate, either in a room alone or with someone or another dog. He is good in the car and likes to go for trips out.
Memphis has never growled, snapped, snarled or bitten but he will make a grumpy old man grumble if he wants to be left alone.
Memphis has been around younger children, my 6 year old nephew comes to visit, and we have friends’ younger children (under 10) visit without issues, but he can sometimes prefer to go and sit quietly on his own rather than be in the middle of too much young kid noise and rushing about.
He is also big! He can get boisterous when excited and he really doesn’t know his own size, or weight or strength! He can knock over little children quite easily just by pushing past.
So, for this reason, I would say that Memphis might be best suited to a home with children over the age of 10.
He is strong on the lead, but loves to go out for a walk or a gallop around a field. He also loves a dip in a lake or river!
He loves to meet other dogs and people, but can be a little wary at first with some.
He really is a gorgeous Dogue de Bordeaux. We always get compliments on him when out and about! He has such a dopey look though sometimes!
We would prefer him to go to a new home who really can love him completely.
He is used to being at home with me all day, apart from popping out on errands, but he is ok to be left. I wouldn’t want him to be left alone all day while someone is at work, as he is just not used to it, and it wouldn’t be fair.
Ideally, someone with experience with Dogues or large dogs would be a good home.
We would want someone prepared for slobber, and hair and someone prepared to give him the time and attention he is used to.
He is a massive Mummy’s boy and it will be devastating for us to see him go. He is a good boy though so he will make a fantastic friend for someone.
So please only contact if you have a genuine interest and feel you can give him a good home.
He is microchipped, field and wormed and KC registered with a good pedigree.
We have recently moved and I think his vaccinations might just be overdue, so he might need to start again.
Please message if you would like to meet him. But please no timewasters, as it is a painful enough situation to deal with already.
