Description

Phoenix is a medium sized boy who is thought to be around 8 years of age He came into the care of Pawprints after being rescued from Breasta Kill Shelter in Romania. Phoenix initially stayed in the home of one of our rescuers for some much needed TLC and recuperation before moving into one of our shelters in Curtea De Arges He travelled to his UK Foster home in January 2026. Phoenix is vaccinated, microchipped and neutered He has no known health issues Phoenix has adjusted and settled well into family life He is friendly towards new people and visitors to the home albeit a little cautious initially He prefers to take introductions slowly and appreciates a tickle under the chin when he is ready to make friends. Phoenix currently lives in a farm environment with 7 other dogs of differing sizes and ages He is well integrated with the five dogs who live indoors and his Foster Mum says “Phoenix is very kind and respectful of other dogs and never shows any aggression” He has never shown any food or resource guarding behaviours We feel he could live alongside another dog(s) in his forever home after sensible introductions although this is not essential He has shown to be an adaptable boy and could also live as an only dog in the home Phoenix also lives with 6 cats, there have never been any issues or concerns regarding his behaviour or interactions with them. Phoenix could continue to live alongside cats and small furries in his new home with slow introductions. Phoenix lives with a 14 year old child at the moment and has spent time with children aged 3 years plus Introductions have been slow and quiet and subsequent interactions have been positive His Foster says “Phoenix has always been calm and well behaved around children, he has never jumped up” We feel Phoenix would enjoy being part of a family in his forever home and suggest children are aged 8 years plus due to his advancing years Families with dog savvy children below 8 years would be considered on an individual basis Phoenix accepts a collar, lead and harness He can get a little excitable when his harness is being put on and, at times, gently mouth his Foster Mum while she does this but she says he seems to be trying to help and hurry her along! There is absolutely no aggression behind this behaviour. Phoenix walks very well on the lead with no pulling, his Foster describes him as “the perfect gentleman” The majority of his walks take place in the grounds of his current home where he is able to run in the fields while on a longline. Phoenix is nervous around vehicles and usually attempts to head home when encountering any His Foster is working on desensitising him to traffic by gradually increasing his exposure to passing cars etc He can also bark at horses in neighbouring fields but responds well to redirection. Phoenix has been on walks to a local country park where he was unaffected by external stimuli He encountered people and other dogs with no reaction at all. Phoenix travels well in the car but does require to be lifted in Phoenix is both toilet and crate trained He sleeps well overnight in his safe space from around 8pm until 8am the following morning and will alert his Foster if he needs out to go to the toilet in between times. Phoenix has not displayed any destructive behaviour or signs of separation anxiety He can easily he left for periods of 3/4 hours but does tend to have the company of other dogs at this time He sleeps alone overnight. Phoenix’s Foster Mum has the following to say about him: “Phoenix is as close to perfect as you could get in a dog, his manners are impeccable, he is loving, kind and gentle. He will be playful and fun out on a walk and happily snooze with you the rest of the day. Whoever chooses Phoenix will be extremely lucky”
