Description
Bear is a small to medium sized dog weighing approximately 14kg. He is neutered and his vaccinations are up-to-date. He is fully housetrained, travels well in the car and walks nicely on a lead. He is happy to be left alone for short periods, and is quite happy to be by himself in another room when his adopters are working.
Bear was found as a puppy in a drain near railway tracks in Romania and was rescued along with his family. After 5+ years in the UK, Bear is unfortunately looking for a new home due to a change in his family's circumstances. They are devastated, but want to do what is best for Bear.
Bear takes a little time to trust, but once you are in his inner circle, he is so happy to see his immediate and extended family. Bear is not a fan of guests he does not know, so would benefit from a quiet household with a consistent approach to introducing people who are unfamiliar to him. He thrives on consistency and routine.
Bear is as happy playing as he is to be sleeping on the cosiest bed/sofa. He enjoys a brain game as well. He likes attention, generally in the mornings/late evenings before spending time by himself most of the time, unless something more exciting is happening like someone grating cheese downstairs! He is fairly low maintenance and falls asleep in a heartbeat when he is comfortable! On walks, he has zero reaction to humans but will happily ignore other dogs unless they react to him first. He enjoys seeing the various cats of the neighbourhood who headbutt him to say hello! He walks well on a lead but can get spooked by loud noises (large lorries, motorbikes etc.).
Bear has never lived with any other animals or children but does go to a dog sitter who has his own confident rescue dog, and they get on fine with no issues. There have never been guarding issues with food/toys.
Bear knows basic tricks like sit, round, lie down and paw. He can wee on command for his final action of the evening, before retiring to his crate
Bear does have a mild luxating patella which has been vet checked in early 2026 and confirmed as mild and common and not causing him any pain. He has an occasional small hop in his walk for this (very minimal).
