Description
Margot is a female medium sized puppy that was found on the streets of Romania in June 25. She spent time in our public shelter until moving to our Essex Kennels in February 26. She is microchipped, vaccinated and neutered with no known health issues.
Margot – Behaviour & Temperament Overview
General Temperament
Margot is a nervous and reserved dog initially, especially when meeting new people. When someone enters her kennel she will typically retreat to a safe space and avoid interaction at first. Once she becomes familiar with the person, she shows that she is a very sweet-natured girl.
Aggression / Behavioural Concerns
Biting or growling: None reported toward people or other dogs.
Resource guarding: None observed.
Kennel behaviour: No destructive behaviour reported.
Overall, there are no aggression or guarding concerns noted.
Handling & Equipment
Margot is slightly unsure when having her harness put on, but she will tolerate it with gentle reassurance and patience.
Lead Walking
Margot is very early in her lead-walking development.
Typical behaviour on lead:
Walks slightly behind the handler.
Frequently checks in for reassurance.
Can become spooked by loud noises or sudden movements.
May spin on the lead when frightened.
However, her confidence is steadily improving with time and experience.
Exposure to Stimuli
Margot is not yet ready for off-site walks, so her exposure to external stimuli (traffic, busy environments, etc.) has been limited so far.
Children
Margot has met children and reacted well.
Due to her nervous temperament, she would be better suited to a home with older, calm children 10+.
Other Dogs
Margot lives in a kennel with another dog (Peaches) and gets along very well.
She is described as very good with other dogs.
She could live with another dog, and a confident resident dog may help build her confidence, although it is not strictly required.
Cats
Margot has been cat tested and she loved the cat and was picking them, a dog savvy cat would be best.
House Training / Kennel Habits
Margot does toilet in her kennel, so she will likely need continued toilet training in a home environment.
Being Left Alone
Margot has previously been left alone for:

7:00 PM – 9:00 AM

Margots carers say Margot is a very sweet kind natured little girl but does lack confidence and will need someone patient to build a bond with her. Margot enjoys 1-1 grooming sessions with the staff.
