Description
This is my beautiful boy Patch, we rescued Patch at the start of the year - he had previously been abused.
Patch is a Staffy X, has beautiful markings and a clean bill of health - recently visited the vets for a health check and vaccinations. He has NO health issues.
Patch is loving, kind to children and loves cuddles. Despite what he has been through, all he wants to give is love. We adore him, and writing this is breaking my heart.
Unfortunately, Patch is not doing well in our home environment, our next door neighbour has a child who is severely autistic, and Patch is struggling with the noise of stimming throughout the day and the night and is showing visible signs of stress, including weight loss. I'm happy to discuss this further.
Patch is crate trained, and only knows the command "sit" - he was completely un-trained when we rescued him. He is good on the lead and is NOT food aggressive.
If myself and my partner are working a long day (8-4), Patch chills out in his crate, and I visit him and toilet him on my lunch break - he copes fine with this, however this is not regular and he is not used to being left alone for 4+ hours. He is fine sleeping downstairs at night and will remain on his dog bed unless stretching his legs.
He loves walking, and will walk for miles - I tend to do 3-5km a night with him, he does get excited when seeing other dogs and loves to play. He has socialised with many dogs since being with us.
When we rescued Patch he did not know what a toy was, or how to play. He has started to learn to fetch with a ball.
He does not chew or steal items.
Patch does not like cats.
Due to Patch's past, his new owner would be required to commit to meeting him a couple of times first - he is very nervous with new people, but he is finding this easier to cope with. He is never aggressive.
Some days, Patch does require you to stand outside while he is going to the toilet - he was previously locked outside for hours.
Once Patch gets used to you, and a trusting bond begins to foster, he does relax. But no matter how much he trusts you, he will cower at quick movements of the hand - again, this is due to him being abused previously.
This is not a decision I am taking lightly, and I am looking at other options before rehoming my dog.
Patch is fed on a dry feed named Step Up to Naturals, and a wet food topper named Nature's diet. He does enjoy a Bone Broth topper, chicken legs and necks, sprats and carrots.
Patch will come with his XL crate, his two blankets, toys, black coat and reflective coat, two leads and two collars, his food and water bowl with an anti slip mat, any remainder food and treats, his dog bed and his grooming kit.
£100 is his rehoming charge, this will go towards a big photo canvas for my little boy of him and his heart dog Patch.
