The Entlebucher Mountain Dog, also known as Entlebucher Sennenhund, Entelbucher Cattle Dog, Bouvier de l'Entlebuch, originates from Switzerland and is the smallest of all Swiss mountain breeds. They are handsome dogs with their striking tri-coloured coats and gentle nature. Although not as popular as the Bernese Mountain Dog, they are highly regarded in their native Switzerland as working dogs, as well as excellent companions and family dogs. The Entlebucher is also growing in popularity here in the UK, although anyone wishing to share their home with one of these handsome dogs will need to register their interest with a breeder and get on a waiting list, as not many puppies are bred each year.

Entlebucher Mountain Dogs can be excellent pets for active families who have the time and energy to meet their high exercise and mental stimulation needs. They are loyal, affectionate, and form strong bonds with their owners, thriving on companionship and participation in family activities. With consistent training and early socialisation, they generally behave well with children and other animals, though their herding background means they may try to herd young children, so supervision is advised.
