The Deerhound, also known as Scottish Deerhound, is a large, rough-coated breed that is often described as tall, graceful and very hairy. They are related to the Greyhound and originated in the north of Scotland, where they were often referred to as the "Royal Dog of Scotland" because at one point in history they were only allowed to be kept by royalty and nobility. Sadly, the breed is currently one of the UK"s native dogs on Kennel Club"s vulnerable list.
