The Flat Coated Retriever, also known as Flat-Coated Retriever, Flatcoat, Flattie, is often affectionately referred to as a "flattie". They are large hunting dogs similar to the Golden and Labrador Retrievers but have a longer muzzle, which sets them apart from the other two breeds. They love to be in and around water and will gravitate to it whenever they have the opportunity.
