An Aegean cat can be identified by its medium-sized, muscular, semi-longhaired or plush coat that is typically bicolour or tricolour with a large portion of white (around 25% to 90% of the body). Their coat colours include combinations like black, red, blue, cream or tabby patterns. They have almond-shaped eyes that can be green, blue or yellow, medium-sized ears with a wide base and rounded tips, and a long, sometimes hooked tail. This breed is also known for its affinity with water and fishing, reflecting its origin in the Greek Aegean islands.
