đWe are passionate about Maine Coons!đ
After many years of studying the traits and physical attributes that make the Maine Coon the best breed of cat ( in our biased opinion! ) we have chosen the best characteristics in our first breeding pair, which started Sarabi & Akelas Maine Coon Family! We rarely breed our Queen, so it's just such a special occasion when we have these kittens in our home, growing up with us.
Our cats are never shut outside in cages or outbuildings. The kittens are brought up within our home.
We feed our pets on a clean, high protein food to suit their needs.
We offer outside access in the form of a 'catio', which is open to use at any time. We also take one of our boys out in a lead and harness. He has enjoyed many a shopping trip and has even qualified as a member of Pets As Therapy due to his laid-back nature!
Health care - Our cats are fully wormed and vaccinated. However, I would strongly recommend researching the effects of over vaccinating animals. I have first-hand experience with adverse reactions to vaccinations, and this has led me to re consider future vaccinations. Unfortunately, many insurance companies insist on yearly vaccines, so this forces compliance.
Neutering and spaying these cats should be done as late as possible. I would again advise on researching this as hormonal imbalances and future inflammation within the animal has been reported to cause complications later in life.
* I expect each owner to make their own informed decision on these matters *
Certification/registration is another 'tricky subject'. Many registered breeders are not monitored, and the breed standards are ( in my opinion) falling. This can't be said for everyone. Again, you as the owner need to make informed decisions when buying a Maine Coon.
Lastly, I love to keep in contact with all of the kittens' new owners and see these beautiful cats grow!
Thank you for your time.
From Sarabi & Akelas Maine Coon Family!
