I am looking for a new home for my wonderful female rabbit Bluey. Bluey was found dumped in a woodland about 4 years ago, pregnant. Once she had given birth, I took her in to be a companion to my male rabbit who had since died. I don't know her exact age but I believe she is about 6-7 years old.
She is the ideal pet if you are looking to get your child a pet rabbit and will give your family around 3-5 more years of companionship depending on how well she is looked after. She has a wonderful personality, will come over for treats, likes being stroked and will tolerate being picked up, though she doesn't love it, she won't struggle if held correctly. She will get on with neutered male rabbits very well - I have paired her up with two in the time I have had her and she has got on with them immediately with no fighting or dominance issues.
She has had no health issues, keeps herself very clean, teeth and claws in good condition. She is currently housed in a large pen with a small shelter (she prefers being outside and even with a large shed to live in, spent most of her time outside) and occasionally has range of the whole garden. She doesn't poo in her hutch, only outside, so is very easy keep clean if she has suitable outdoor space. She must have a suitably large outdoor space or to be let out regularly. Her favourite thing to do is lounge in a sunny spot somewhere in the garden or sleep in the hedge.
Bluey is, however, a bit of an escape artist. She can scale fences with any small ledges to aid her, will springboard off a wall to jump over 5ft fencing and dig or chew her way out of any poorly constructed pen eventually. She can also lift those individual panels you find on temporary pens to get under them. She is a very smart rabbit - but please don't let that put you off! She has escaped my garden many times and always returns home before I've even noticed she's gone, I usually find out from the local Facebook page that she's been on an adventure. I have now managed to keep her in a secure pen for over a year with no escapes so I can help you with this.
I am selling her because her partner died and it was very hard to find a neutered male to pair her with so she spends a lot of time alone. I also have a dog now who spends a lot of time trying to get at her which is not fair on her. I will not let her go to anyone who has an intact male. She has been bred before and doesn't deserve to be bred again at an older age. If you have another female rabbit, I am happy to spend a bit of time introducing them to see if they get along - she hasn't ever been with another female but she is incredibly docile with male rabbits.
I will need to see pictures of your set up before I am happy to give her away and I would also be happy to deliver her to you within reason so I can check she is going to a good home. I love this rabbit, she has a fantastic personality and deserves to be loved and treated well. I've had 4 rabbits in the past 5 years and she has been the easiest and most affectionate one.
