Description

Meet Charlie Charlie has come from a neglected background hence his overpreening. More details will be given re this when you meet him. Charlie is a very loving, funny, chatty and needy boy. He loves nothing more than hanging out with you all day. He gets separation anxiety if you leave the room or go out. I do believe in time this will ease. He just needs a stable home. A lot of daily attention and love and the feather chewing should stop. This has already improved during his foster stay with me so far (3 months) He is now on ‘an excellent diet which is now providing him with all the nutrients he needs. I’m glad to say he has pins appearing on his little bald patches under his wings and on his chest. Charlie is an excellent talker, he says his name, be a good boy, hello and bye, what are you doing? Give us a kiss. What?! Ey?! He loves to laugh. This is to name a few. He loves nothing more than a cuddle and head tickles. He is good around people other pets and children. He gets very excited when people visit wanting to greet them and go to say hello. I would however recommend a home with older children or none at all. Simply because you could never trust him to be left around younger children. He has a powerful bite and it wouldn’t be fair on him having to be in his cage because of children. When supervised he is really good with them though. He loves to dance, and his favourite pastime is chewing wood. He has this game of balancing a bit between his wings and tries to flip it to the other side. He spends ages doing this lol. He isn’t a cheap bird to keep. He needs a large cage. Ideally a macaw cage. He requires robust macaw toys. He still demolishes these at speed but they do last a lot longer than other wooden toys. Plastic is a no no as he just crushes it. His food is Hagen lifetime sticks and tidymix. He adores tidymix sesame sticks and garlic sticks. He loves a cheeky sip or three of your cuppa. Charlie has tested negative for pbfd. He has had a health check. He is on a multivitamin, a feather care spray, calcium and probiotics. So if this all sounds like something you can offer and maintain this level of care going forward then please message me. Candidates should have previous experience with large breed parrots and either work from home or be at home for the majority of the day. Cockatoos are very needy birds and can be very loud (in region of 90dbl+) I’d require proof of set up. I’d need to know your daily routines. How much you holiday and what would you do with Charlie whilst away. You would need to meet Charlie on more than one of occasion so we can see how he interacts with you and to ensure your a perfect fit. This isn’t a first come first gets service. It’s who is the best person for Charlie and who can offer him the 5* forever home he needs. This boy has been through too much to be passed around because someone adopts him on a whim. Charlie will come with his current cage and set up, some extra new toys, his supplements and a bag of his food. His adoption fee reflects this and is set to ensure he ends up in the right home. We are based in S20 area of Sheffield. Near to junction 30/31 M1.
