Description
We are extremely proud to announce that our gorgeous girl Willow is due to give birth to her first litter of Golden Retriever puppies in mid-April. We are so excited. Willow has the most beautiful and gentle temperament that will inevitably be passed onto her puppies making them exceptional family pets.
Willow is the most amazing pet for our family. She has developed a close and clearly distinct relationship with each of us – two parents and two children – and is dearly loved and loves back. If you don’t know about Goldies you are in for a surprise – they just love people and lean in to hugs and petting. Willow is a perfect example – calm yet playful, good with guests and small children, adventurous outdoors but a soppy fur bundle indoors.
Before breeding we made sure that she is completely healthy. She has very good hip and elbow scores We chose the father for her pups very carefully, making sure that he had an equally good temperament and excellent genetic health. The sire of the litter is an absolutely stunning deep red Golden retriever called George (KC name Warpersmoss Skypirate of Clearmeadow). He is equally at home on a day’s shoot, in the home, and in busy human settings such as hospitals. He is very loyal and sociable, but has not lost his playful nature. The parents are very well matched with an exceptionally low inbreeding coefficient of 2.7%, well below the breed average.
The puppies will be raised in our home environment with their mother. As well as my partner we have two young teenagers, so the puppies will be the focus of lots of love and attention and will be very well socialised. They will be used to a busy household with lots of movement and some noise, as well as the background hum of an urban setting.
Early socialisation is crucial to the development of puppies. We use ENS and ESI to aid development, resilience and coping mechanisms, in addition to normal daily play, handling and socialisation activities.
Before they leave for their new homes all of our puppies will have a vet health check and their first vaccination. They will be microchipped and will have been wormed regularly. They will arrive with 5 weeks insurance, KC registration (endorsed), puppy care pack, bag of food, blanket and toy with mums scent on and contract of sale.
We will keep you updated with your puppy’s progress and will send photos and videos so you can watch your puppy grow.
In return, we are looking for excellent homes for these pups. Please remember that they are a 12-15 year commitment. Retrievers need to feel part of the family unit and cannot be kept in a kennel. They moult heavily twice a year and love to be outside, off the lead, running in mud and water. They are a fairly big breed with lots of energy and both offer and need lots of love and lots of exercise. Not everyone is best suited to a goldie, and you should think carefully about whether this breed is right for you and your lifestyle and living circumstances.
We will be vetting all potential puppy owners carefully, and we will decline if we think our puppies aren’t a good fit for you. If we offer you a puppy, we will ask you for a deposit of £500 to reserve it until it is ready to join your family.
