Cookie — Looking for Her Forever Home
With a very heavy heart, I am looking for a loving forever home for my beautiful 15 months oldPoochon, Cookie. This is an incredibly difficult decision for me, because Cookie is a very special part of my life. Due to a change in our work schedules and timings, I can no longer give her the companionship and routine she deserves.
Cookie is a lovely, friendly, playful and very adaptable little dog. She loves meeting people and is always happy to greet them. She is particularly good with men in but I feel she would benefit from having a female presence in the home as well. She is wonderful with other dogs, although ideally I would prefer her to go to a home where she can be the only pet.
She is not suitable for a home with cats, birds or foxes. She loves chasing them and will try to scare them, so a pet-free home would be preferable. I also have not had the opportunity to see how she behaves around children, so I cannot honestly say whether she would be suitable for a home with young children.
She is generally very well behaved. She has free access to our home and has never destroyed things, misbehaved or caused problems around the house. She is fully house-trained with pee pads and is very independent in many ways. She can comfortably stay home alone for up to around 8 hours and does not suffer from separation anxiety.
One of Cookie's favourite things in the world is looking out of the window. She can spend hours sitting beside a window watching everything happening outside. If her new family could put her bed somewhere near a window, I know she would absolutely love it.
She enjoys her walks and is very good on a lead. She can also walk off-leash in safe, enclosed or appropriate park areas. She loves going for car rides and is generally very adaptable to new environments and routines.
Cookie sleeps with me and has always slept alongside me rather than alone. She is not crate-trained, and I would not want her placed in a crate as part of her new home routine. If crate training or keeping her crated is important to you, please do not contact me, as I want to make sure she goes to a home that is genuinely right for her.
More than anything, I want Cookie to go to someone who will see her as a family member, not simply a pet. She has so much love and happiness to give, and I want her next home to be her forever home.
Please understand that I am writing this with a very heavy heart. Giving her up is not something I want to do, but I believe that finding her the right home is the most loving thing I can do for her given our change in circumstances.
I would be very happy to provide Cookie's new family with everything she needs and all the essentials she is accustomed to, so that her transition is as comfortable as possible.
One personal request: I would prefer not to receive regular updates or photographs after Cookie moves to her new home. This is not because I don't care about her — quite the opposite. I know myself, and receiving updates would make me feel guilty and make this decision even harder for me. I will always love Cookie, and I simply need to be able to let her go knowing that she is safe, loved and happy.
I am not looking for just any home for Cookie. I am looking for the right home. Someone who will love her, give her a peaceful life, let her enjoy her little window-watching sessions, take her on walks and car rides, and cherish the funny, loving personality that makes her so special.
