If you are local and happy to return to our chosen veterinary practice, we will arrange and administer the first vaccination before your puppy leaves us and will also prepay for the second vaccination, which you will return to our vet to receive. If you are unable to return to our vet, we have two options. Firstly, we can administer the first vaccination only if your own vet confirms they use exactly the same vaccine brand, allowing the course to be completed correctly. Alternatively, we will not administer any vaccinations, and you can arrange for both doses to be given by your own vet after Gotcha Day. This approach is important because puppies must receive the same vaccine brand throughout the entire course. If different brands are used, the vaccination course usually has to be restarted, meaning unnecessary additional vaccinations for a puppy’s developing immune system and small body. It also delays when they can safely begin going out for walks, as most vets recommend waiting until the restarted course is complete. We will never administer a vaccination simply to meet expectations or convenience. Our priority will always be the long-term health, wellbeing, and best interests of our puppies, and we believe avoiding unnecessary medical treatment is the most responsible approach.
