This is Mia’s story. 💔
Mia is a beautiful Mastin mix girl, around 6 years old, with the kindest eyes and the gentlest soul. She’s everything you’d hope for in a best friend — sweet-natured, affectionate, and calm. The kind of girl who leans into you for reassurance and quietly soaks up every bit of love she’s given.
But Mia hasn’t always known kindness.
She was originally found in terrible condition, alone in a cave in Spain. Neglected and in desperate need of help, her future looked heartbreakingly uncertain. That was until John stepped in.
John — a devoted UK rescuer who gave his whole world to saving dogs — made sure Mia got the veterinary care, nourishment, and safety she so desperately needed. He helped nurse her back to health. He gave her stability. He gave her hope.
With John, she had protection. A future.
Then John tragically passed away.
And just like that, Mia lost the person who promised she’d always be safe.
We’ve spoken to those who knew him and gathered as much information as we can. But because of the heartbreaking circumstances, we don’t have every detail of her history.
What we do know is this: Mia is a gentle, steady girl who has never shown any signs of aggression. She walks nicely on the lead, though her recall is unknown. She is great with other dogs and is happy and relaxed in their company. After everything she’s been through, she remains soft, loving, and trusting. ❤️
Mia has been in the UK for several years now and is currently in Cornwall, waiting patiently for someone to step into the space John left behind.

Hope 4 Paws UK & Spain is a dog home-finding and rescue support team. We are not a kennel, sanctuary, or boarding facility, and we do not board dogs. Dogs are in foster care or temporary accommodation until suitable homes are found.
We work with dogs from the UK and various EU countries, often alongside partner rescuers. As these are rescue dogs, full background information is not always available. We always share everything we know, but histories may be limited or incomplete.
By adopting or fostering through Hope 4 Paws UK & Spain, you acknowledge and accept the following:
General Information & Liability
A dog’s age, breed, health, behaviour, and history may be estimated or unknown
Hope 4 Paws UK & Spain cannot be held liable for:
Known or unknown medical or health conditions
Behavioural issues, including fear, anxiety, or reactivity
Damage to property, belongings, people, or other animals
Any undisclosed history due to lack of available information
All dogs are placed in good faith, and responsibility transfers to the adopter at the point of handover.
If a Dog Is Deemed Unsuitable
If at any point an adopted dog is considered unsuitable for your home:
Hope 4 Paws UK & Spain must be informed immediately
You are not permitted to:
Rehome the dog yourself
Sell, give away, or transfer ownership
Euthanise the dog
without the written consent of Hope 4 Paws UK & Spain.
Training & Adjustment Period
Adopters are required to seek appropriate training or behavioural support at their own cost before giving up an adopted dog
A minimum settling period of 3 months must be given before the rescue will consider rehoming the dog, unless otherwise agreed
Rescue dogs require time to decompress, settle, and adjust to their new environment, and this period is considered essential.
Emergency Situations
If your circumstances become urgent or exceptional, Hope 4 Paws UK & Spain can assist in arranging emergency boarding, at the adopter’s own cost, subject to availability.
EU Dogs & Transport Fees
For dogs travelling from the EU:
No adoption fee is charged
A transport fee of £395 applies:
£100 payable when transport is booked
£295 payable when the dog is travelling
This fee covers transport costs only and is non-refundable once transport is booked.
