I’ve been looking at the adverts on pets4home & I’m amazed at the difference in pricing from below £1,000 to over £2,000.
From kittens being advertised as GCCF with no vaccinations or microchips.
Being advertised that they could leave at 8 weeks of age.
These kittens are not GCCF registered as the GCCF would discipline a breeder for selling a kitten before 13 weeks of age and without being vaccinated & microchipped.
Also kittens are being sold as parents have been health checked which means the parents have just been to the vets for a general check up normally when yearly vaccinations are due but again to be GCCF registered Mainecoon breeder parents need to have DNA tests.
These tests are to check for heart, blood & muscular problems in the DNA of the cat.
If the cat has come from abroad or from a different registry even more DNA tests are required.
The cost of kittens needs to be offset against the cost of the tests being done to ensure the kitten doesn’t have health issues.
Buyers need to be aware of the potential risks of buying unvaccinated kittens & not being DNA tested for common diseases
