Description
Marvel is a 6-Year-old medium male dog weighing 22Kg. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date with her vaccinations and in good health.
Marvel was originally rescued in Bucharest, Romania in March 2020. He was described as a friendly boy who was great with dogs and people. Marvel spent 3months in Romania before coming to the UK on the Happy Bus to his new home in June 2020, where he remained with his family for almost 5yrs. Sadly his family made the decision to surrender him as the son suffered with meltdowns which caused Marvel extreme distress and anxiety, and he wanted to protect his owner from harm. This caused him to nip the son, causing superficial marks (but no breaking of the skin). Marvel found a new home in March 2025 but has sadly been surrendered due to a bite incident in which the owner felt he isn't suitable in the home with small children visiting. Marvel was limping on this leg, the owners mother reached down to check his leg which caused Marvel to panic and bite her hand breaking the skin but not needing any medical attention.
Marvel previously lived with children 10+ who he grew up with since a puppy. Marvel was good with them most of the time apart from when the son had a meltdown. Marvel is very scared of young children and needed to be kept away from a visiting 2yr old in his current home. He is, however, good with the older daughter (13yrs old) in the home. It is felt therefore that Marvel could share his home with children 14+ who can respect his boundaries.
Marvel shared his first home with another dog however he was anxious with her and didn't like her around his feet which could cause him to growl. In this first home he was good with dogs he visited. In his second home he has become scared of lively dogs on walks, and depending on their size may show aggression. He attacked a neighbour’s small dog and had a slight altercation with another dog out walking when that dog wouldn’t leave Marvel alone. It is therefore felt that Marvel should be the only dog in the home, and live in an area with few dogs in the vicinity.
Marvel shared his first home with cats who he was very good with and would play with them. He does not live with cats in his current home. He can therefore live with cats with sensible introductions.
Marvel is nervous of new people entering the home and he will bark and cower away initially when they walk through the door. He will also try to bolt towards the door when people leave. In his first home he settled quickly and was happy to greet people.
Marvel accepts a collar and has previously used a harness. In his first home, Marvel was very nervous on walks and would often refuse to leave the home or freeze at the front door. However, he has since built confidence and in his current home walks very well on a lead. He occasionally pulls, but not overly hard. He will become fear reactive when encountering lively dogs on walks and will need other dog walkers and people to give him space.
In his first home, Marvel had some anxieties around people leaving a room or the home, which caused him to run after them, lunge and bark. It is believed that this was due to his owner leaving two years after he arrived. Following this, his first home worked on keeping Marvel behind a stairgate to try and prevent this behaviour, building up to alone time of a few hours without issues. Marvel’s new owner will need to continue working on building his confidence and trust in being left alone.
Marvel is toilet trained but is not crate trained. He has never been destructive and can be left alone for a few hours with no issues however he will bark at outside noises. He sleeps well overnight with his owner and travels well in the car. Marvel is also very good with food, loves treats and have never shown any resource guarding tendencies.
Marvel's families have said the following: First home: “Marvel is a loving boy. Once he trusts you he will give you endless snuggles and be a loyal friend for life” and current home: “Marv is a lovely dog when small children and other dogs aren’t a factor. He loves sitting next to people and chilling out. He’s very clever and will let you know what he wants.”
