Description
NOTE: the minor charge is for her cage, equipment, toys, and supplements. If you already have a suitable setup she is free to a good home!
After much thought and sadness we have decided to look for an experienced bird owner to rehome our parakeet, Peach.
She was rescued from a neglect and abuse situation two months ago, and has yet to recover emotionally. She was kept in a pet shop in a cramped cage with dozens of other birds, and then taken to an unsuitable house where she was neglected further. We aren’t sure but believe her wings may have been clipped when she was younger. She arrived alone and unbonded, and was unfortunately kept with a mirror instead of a companion, which we have successfully weaned her off.
She’s a curious bird, with no violent tendencies or willingness to bite. She is however lonely, and extremely timid and frightened of humans. We’ve done our best to tame her whilst respecting her boundaries, but it’s a job we think best suited to someone with experience in particular with abused birds who knows what steps to take from here.
She will come with her current cage, all her bowls and toys, and her remaining food and vitamins. She will also come with a larger cage to be transferred into, as her current cage is a placeholder. She and her cages and equipment must be collected..
Peach is a very special bird, and we’d love if we could stay in contact with her forever home once we’ve found it, so we can see how she’s doing.
