Description
It is with the heaviest of hearts that i am looking to rehome my 2 girls, Lucky and Fly both aged 7. They are Whippet X Collies.
It is absolutely vital that they go together. They are litter mates and are bonded. They have never ever been apart.
Due to a relationship breakdown and my work schedule im not able to give them the time and attention that they both desperately need. Previously they were only left for a short period of time as someone was home with them for majority of the day but now its just me. They are home for the whole day (4/5 times a week) unattended for a minimum of 10 hrs with family stopping in once a day when they are able to, to let them out for a toilet and some love and attention but this isn't every day and is a lot to ask of them constantly. Both girls are house trained and are both crate trained (always shared a crate) however, they haven't used a crate in over 2 years. They have free access to the house. They are good with children (they are known to move away if they're fed up) they have been abound both of my children since newborns (they are now 5 and nearly 2). They are good with other dogs whilst out and about and haven't been in a bad altercation however they can get a little grumpy when a new dog comes into their home. They have great recall however, they did do the odd bit of "working" when they were younger so they do like running ahead, sniffing bushes etc but their great with coming back. The girls could walk for hours and hours.
They are the sweetest girls. So full of love and affection but It isn't fair that they are home for the whole day on their own and trying to walk them when I get home late in the evenings is near impossible with the 2 boys when they've been at school and day care all day and they're absolutely shattered. Then if I plan anything to be done with the kids on the weekend thats another day they're locked away in the house and its just not fair on them.
This isn't an easy decision and its definitely one I didn't want to make but I feel this is in their best interests. They are locked in the house constantly and that's no life for them
Please don't comment about dog walkers etc. I have considered all options but i cannot currently afford to have people stop by and walk them. Ive gone from a 2 person income to a 1 person income and my finances dont give me that extra money to pay for that. I have put this off for the longest time but I know its what needs to be done. I have reached out to charities with no help.
The girls won't just go to anyone. There will be conversations. Meeting one another first etc to make sure everything works well together.
