Description
Friendly indoor cat seeks calm, loving home with plenty of company – not suited to other pets or most children (detail below).
I am sadly in a position where I need to rehome Dido following a separation and changes in circumstances that mean neither me nor my former partner can keep her.
Basics – Dido is a large (6kg+), 10-year-old, female, tabby. She is healthy, micro-chipped, neutered, and her vaccines are up-to-date. She is an indoor-only cat, though would be happy using an enclosed “catio”.
Personality – Dido is a very friendly and affectionate cat who loves to be around humans. She takes to new people quickly as long as they let her set the pace of the interaction and are not loud or unpredictable/erratic. She loves to sit on laps or chests, whatever human surface is available. If she can’t sit on a human, she likes to sit near a human, ideally with a paw touching the human. Dido loves being stroked, having her chin scratched, and her belly rubbed. She's not a fan of being picked up and prefers to be called rather than carried. Her hobbies include jumping in boxes/bags, chasing her tail, smacking the hoover (her nemesis), lounging in the sun, and birdwatching.
Ideal home – Dido is looking for a peaceful home with people who enjoy her company and like giving her strokes. She is happiest when there are people around (even when they’re not interacting with her), so wouldn't suit a household where everyone is out all day most days. She wouldn’t suit a home with other cats/dogs, or with young children unless they are unusually calm and gentle around animals and the adults are confident her boundaries will be respected (as she may swipe if she feels threatened).
Monthly costs – est. £105, including insurance (lifetime cover), vet care plan (vaccines, flea/worm, checkups), food, and litter.
Health – Dido is generally in good health. She had some digestive issues in 2025, but her symptoms have resolved since moving to a calmer environment and switching to a sensitive stomach food.
