About Maro
Our lovely boy Maro is sadly seeking a new home through no fault of his own. Originally rescued from the streets of Romania and adopted back in 2024, Maro has adapted to a companion lifestyle so well and is a happy, friendly, sociable and smart little dog. Unfortunately though, the resident dog won’t accept him sharing his space and it’s not fair on anyone to force their relationship. Maro’s family recognise what a wonderful boy he is and they want nothing but the best for him.
Maro is almost four years old and weighs 16kg. His slightly smaller size means he is easy to handle, but robust enough to enjoy adventures and long walks. He is fantastic with people and has a very affectionate, loyal nature. He’s calm with new people and visitors, and is grateful for any opportunity to be stroked and fussed over! He is also friendly and well behaved around children, and has a lot of experience around kids aged 4-6 years old. He’s patient, gentle, and can tolerate a more busy environment.
Maro enjoys his walks and has moderate energy levels without being demanding. He is active and loves being outdoors, but also settles well at home. He walks beautifully on lead, will walk to heel when asked, and has good recall. He knows leave it, stay, come, sit, down, paw, crawl and roll over, and has completed both a six week training course and a one week residential programme. He enjoys learning, responds well to direction, and loves a reward - who doesn’t?!
Maro is sociable with other dogs and regularly attends pack walks where he’s made plenty of friends. He has lived with multiple dogs and enjoys play and chase. The reason for rehoming is due to ongoing tension with one particular resident dog in the household, not because of a wider issue with dogs generally. Outside of that dynamic, he has shown himself to be a sociable boy.
Maro is fully housetrained, and can be left alone for periods of time without showing separation anxiety. He is not particularly toy driven, but he loves his food so treats work well for positive reinforcement training.
Maro would suit a home where he can continue to be included in day to day life. He would particularly enjoy living with another friendly dog, especially as he has formed close bonds with other resident dogs in his current home, so our preference would be a home with a friend to keep him company. We would be open to considering a home where he would be the only resident dog if he has enough human company throughout the day and regular opportunities to socialise with other dogs, as we know that he really enjoys this.
Maro would be a lovely addition to a sociable household where he has lots of attention and can be showered with the love he craves. He is a calm boy and takes everything in his stride. He has learned so much since arriving in the UK from Romania, and he will shine in a new home where sofa cuddles are aplenty!
