Description
Meet Ted - it is with a heavy heart we need to re home our beautiful boy.
we adopted Ted 2 years ago from a charity, we were advised he was going to be put to sleep should a home not be found for him so we took him to prevent that.
we have worked with Ted for 2 years and were his 3rd home, unfortunately i think we got him a little too late, a lot of habits already in place, he has changed massively over the 2 years but there are still a few issues with him so please read this before.
Ted pulls on the lead, he is 34kg so is a heavy dog.
Ted will jump & bark at other dogs on walks, due to his size he sounds aggressive, but he just wants to play, once introduced he is bulshy but friendly and playful.
Ted does not understand his size, he will jump on you standing or sitting for a cuddle.
Ted loves a visitor and will get super excited, he will jump and make himself known to said visitor, he gets super excited, but this does settle down after around 2 minutes.
Ted loves a sweet treat especially cake! he will have it away if it is not under wraps.
WALKING:
he loves a walk but will pull, he settles down after about 20 minutes, Ted will bark and jump at other dogs in a friendly manor.
Ted does have a recall, but it seems he will only listen to my husband, does not work with me, but if he is distracted more effort is needed to get him to come back.
SLEEPING:
we have never crated Ted, he sleeps freely on kids beds, sofa, landing or wherever he pleases really.
CAR:
Ted loves a car ride, he is more than happy in the seats or boot, the maximum we have driven with him (with a couple stops) is 2 hours 45 mins and he was absolutely fine. He loves an open window to pop his head out of as he is nosey.
WATER:
Ted loves water, whether it be a bath, a hosepipe, pool in the garden or a river.
GROOMING:
we have had Ted groomed every 8 weeks, this is a full groom with ears cleaned, nails cut, wash and blow dry, he loves it!
AGGRESSION:
This is where we are having issues with him, we have a grandson who I look after for a couple of hours everyday, Ted is amazing with him and has been from day 1, the problem being nobody is aloud to play with him, if we do typical things like swing him around, run with him, splash him with water and so on, Ted gets very protective and he will bark, lunge and has caught me once with his teeth. For this reason I think a home with no young children is best.
Food; ok in side if we tell him to go laydown or get out the kitchen BUT if it is in the garden for a BBQ or party, he is an absolute menace, he gets aggressive if you try and get him in, he has bit me twice (not causing damage) but I felt it. I am just being open and honest so you know everything.
But on the other hand, he will keep you company, show you lots of love and be by your side wherever you go, he will sit and cuddle you, lay with you and protect you.
He needs exercise and maybe owners who know/understand the breed to take him under their wing and give him the home he deserves.
Ted has been Neutered.
I am happy to supply all of his belongings, so he has some comfort with his new family, we have a car seat buckle, his bowls, leads etc. we don’t have a bed as he never liked his when he came with it and he sleeps on our furniture.
