Description

Aria is a 3 year old medium/large sized female believed to be a Staffie X. She is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. She has no known health issues. In January 2026 Aria was moved to different private boarding kennels. They have said 'Aria settled in immediately and although she is very excitable it is in a loving way she just wants a fuss. She has shown no aggresseion towards staff and is happy to be alone in her kennel. She has shown no resource guarding and has been happy to allow kennel staff to collect food bowl and toys. Aria has accepted collar/harness and lead and is muzzle trained. She does pull when she hears dogs but once past and she knows she’s going in a grass run at the kennels and she relaxes. She adores people but she can be quite pully and barky at dogs. She has not met children since being in kennels, the youngest person she has met there was 17 years old and she did very well with them. The kennels have said that : Aria Likes; Her kong, cuddles, toys, dry food, puddles Aria Dislikes; dogs - She is a people focused dog who loves cuddles and to be stroked, she wants nothing more than attention. She is strong so a firm hander is needed while on walks. Aria allows a fabric muzzle to be worn and it does seem to calm her down with other dogs. She has a prey drive.' In February 2026 a PPTF volunteer came to take her on a day trip. She said ‘Upon Arrival Aria was in the exercise yard with other dogs within her visibility and she was not bothered. She did however, get very excited when she saw me and the Kennel TL approaching. When the TL opened the gate to the exercise yard Aria ran immediately past us and jumped through the opening in the secondary door where a window would normally be. She went through it in one fast swoop without hesitation and with purpose. I believe this was over excitement. This indicates her needs to have high fencing in place and a potential escape risk with open windows. Once through that door she was in the corridor of the kennel block running around and barking at the other dogs who were barking back. The TL was able to get a muzzle on her (with some resistance from Aria) and I then took lead so that we could leave for our day out. She was desperately trying to get the muzzle off of her which she managed to do within less than a minute. However, it is noted that the muzzle was not the right size and slightly large for her so this assisted in her success to get it off. We walked past another dog with her reacting until we passed and he was no longer in sight. She jumped right into the car with no hesitation and laid down the entire time popping up her head to look out the window from time to time. She clearly loves being in the car and was extremely relaxed and content. As we pulled up to the pet shop, I put the muzzle on her before walking inside. She accepted the muzzle and wore it the whole time we where there. She was very happy to select a treat and get a fuss from the man working there. She rolled over for belly rubs. I took the muzzle off of her and we went to the pub for lunch. I asked for a table not near any dogs and they said the best option was near the entrance. Within a few minutes a dog came in and she went a bit crazy jumping, barking and screaming with frustration. I opted to take her outside as she was causing a commotion. We sat outside in a pod and she sat on the floor eating her selected treat and occasionally jumped up on the bench to sit next to me and get a fuss. Whenever a dog passed, she would jump up onto the picnic table barking and trying to lunge but I was able to get her down and she would eventually settle again. We then went to the park where she enjoyed a walk and splashing through the puddles. It should be noted that she is quite strong for her size. Aria is a lovely dog who with some training on manners and more socialisation will thrive. She adores human companionship.’ Aria is a large dog who needs someone experienced with large breeds and that can set and teach her clear boundaries. She needs someone who is prepared to manage and work with her to overcome her reaction to dogs when out so this should be either through previous experience or by instructing a behaviourist. Aria needs regular exercise which will mean walks at less busy times with a muzzle to try to avoid times with lots of dogs about or a secure, enclosed dog field which would allow her to run off some energy within a safe environment. Aria will need someone who is around most of the time but will build up some alone time for her too. She has previously used a crate and may feel more secure using one again. Aria has previously been toilet trained but she may need a refresher with this following months in kennels. This is easily done by adhering to a clear, routined toileting schedule. Aria needs an adult only home with no other pets, she can not live with children, cats or other dogs. Aria travels well in the car and likes looking out of the window Aria is a young girl who just needs someone with experience of large dogs that understands that her past is unknown but can work on her future together. She is a dog with so much love to give but needs to be given time and patience to settle into her new home and understand her boundaries. Due to her ability to jump over fences and through windows this should carefully be managed to avoid any escape opportunities.
