Loki is a six-year-old Staffie with a huge amount of love to give. He is a handsome black boy with a little white on his belly and a small white splodge on his nose, and at heart he is a very affectionate dog who loves being around his people.
Loki is happiest when he is getting attention. When someone comes to the door he will bark to let them know they have arrived, but once the door is open his priorities quickly change from announcing their arrival to getting as close to them as possible for a cuddle. He can be very enthusiastic with his greetings and will jump up, then happily settle beside you once he has had a chance to say hello.
He has been used to having his own space and is crate trained, with his crate being somewhere he is comfortable relaxing. He can manage being left alone for around six hours without a problem.
Loki has plenty of energy and enjoys getting out and about. He currently has three or four walks a day of around 30 minutes each and would love a home where his people have the time to give him plenty of exercise, attention and enrichment. He is a strong puller on lead and has not had much formal training, so there is lots of opportunity for his new family to work with him and help him develop his skills.
He is a very friendly boy and the owner reports no history of biting. He can be a little unsure around other dogs and tends to stand and watch them rather than becoming particularly interested in interacting. He will avoid cats who are aggressive towards him when he encounters them outside and does not chase cats.
Loki has not had much experience travelling and finds public transport particularly stressful. He was extremely nervous on a recent bus journey, so his new family will need to be patient with him while he builds confidence with travelling and new experiences.
Loki is being rehomed because his person, who has now gone to university, is no longer able to spend enough time with him. He has been spending too much time alone as a result, and his family feels that he deserves a home where he can have much more company, attention and time with his people.
He is looking for a couple, individual or family with older children who can give him plenty of affection, regular walks and the time to help him become a more confident and well-trained dog. He would benefit enormously from people who enjoy getting to know a dog's personality and are willing to give him the patience and consistency he needs as he settles into a new life.
