Description
ππΆ TOMMY β A LITTLE KANGAROO WITH A BIG HEART AND ENDLESS LOVE TO GIVE πΆπ
π Sheffield S26, South Yorkshire
π RBU, post-adoption support & 4 weeks insurance provided upon adoption (on request) π
Tommy is around 20 months old, a small/lower-medium Labrador and small Terrier cross, possibly Patterdale. He is a wonderfully affectionate, sometimes puppyish and bouncy, clever young boy who absolutely ADORES people. β€οΈ
His mum describes him as a little kangaroo because when he gets excited, he can bounce around like one! π
Sadly, his mum is elderly and her health and mobility have significantly deteriorated, leaving her unable to provide the exercise and enrichment this active young dog needs. She loves Tommy dearly, and surrendering him is a heartbreaking decision, but she wants him to have the happy, fulfilling life he deserves.
A foster home sooner rather than later would make a huge difference, as unfortunately currently Tommy doesnβt receive any sufficient exercise and not walked. π

πΎ More About Tommy
Tommy is one of those dogs whose whole body seems to wag when he is happy! He absolutely loves people, happily greets any new visitors at home with kisses and wants nothing more than to be involved in family life.
He loves fetch, tug games, toys and especially puzzle feeders. Give him a Kong, snuffle bowl or a treat puzzle and he will happily work away until he has found every last treat. π§©πΎ
He is a clever boy who already knows sit, wait and paw.
When his mum needed surgery, Tommy spent two weeks living with her daughter's small female dogs. After gentle introductions, he absolutely LOVED their company β playing, sharing toys, enjoying zoomies.
His main challenge is excitement and uncertainty around dogs on walks. He can pull strongly and react when he sees them, although he has shown no aggression towards dogs during direct interactions.
Tommy also prefers human company. He has been making progress with being left alone for short periods, but would be happiest with people who are home much of the day and can continue building his independence gradually.
π Tommy's Story
Tommy was previously found as a stray and spent around two months in Council kennels before his current mum adopted him 6 months ago.
Unfortunately, unexpected and worsening health difficulties have changed everything.
His mum knows Tommy needs more activity, adventures and companionship than she can currently provide. Her decision comes entirely from love and concern for his happiness. β€οΈ
π‘ Ideal Home
We would LOVE to find Tommy a home with one or two friendly, playful but well-balanced female dogs. He genuinely enjoyed living with canine companions and seemed to learn so much from them.
He needs active, committed people who enjoy walks, games and training, with a secure private garden where he can play while his lead skills continue to develop.
Someone home-based or around for much of the day would be ideal. Older children or teenagers who enjoy playing with dogs could be wonderful companions for him.
Tommy doesn't need somebody to turn him into a different dog. He needs someone who will enjoy his joyful personality while helping him become a confident, well-mannered young gentleman. π
π Somewhere out there is a family who will absolutely LOVE this little bouncing bundle of affection. The kisses, the wagging tail, the sofa cuddles, the games and the funny kangaroo jumps. Tommy has so much love and happiness to share. He just needs people who have the time to share life with him. πΎπ
π©Ί Health Information
Tommy is reported to be healthy and is microchipped. He is not yet neutered, and the rescue will arrange this. His vaccination history needs checking and updating as necessary.
