About Betsy:
Betsy is a sweet, gentle, and deeply affectionate 18-month-old Sprollie (Springer Spaniel x Collie) looking for her forever home. She is a loyal, happy girl who loves nothing more than being close to her people, giving endless licks, and resting her paws on your lap when she feels safe.
She has a wonderfully loving baseline temperament, but as a young working breed mix, she has high energy levels and a bright mind that need plenty of physical exercise and mental stimulation.
Routine, Training & Behavior:
Crate Trained: She is fully crate trained and views her crate as her ultimate safe space. She sleeps comfortably in her crate overnight and handles daytime crating well (e.g., 8am–5pm) when needed.
Outstanding Recall: Betsy has fantastic off-lead recall. Even if she goes exploring or vanishes out of sight for 10 minutes, one blow of the whistle and she comes straight back to you.
Lead Walking: She does pull on the lead, so her new owners will need to continue loose-lead training or use a suitable harness.
Other Dogs: On walks, she generally ignores other dogs and keeps to herself. If another dog repeatedly invades her personal space, she has good initial patience, but after a few attempts, she will tell them to leave her alone with a firm vocal warning.
Toy & Ball Protective: She is highly toy-driven and very protective of her balls and toys around other dogs, so toys should be managed carefully when other dogs are present.
Ideal Home & Environment:
Active Household: Betsy will thrive with experienced owners, active outdoors people, or a family that loves long daily walks, running, or outdoor activities.
Children & Family: She does brilliantly with familiar younger children she knows and trusts (she lives happily alongside a 6-year-old), but she can become easily overwhelmed and anxious around unfamiliar or unpredictable young kids. A quieter home with experienced owners—or a family with older kids/teenagers—would suit her best.
Spaniel / Collie Experience: Familiarity with working breeds and mental enrichment (puzzle toys, scent work, chew toys) will help her thrive.
Patience & Time: A calm, predictable environment where she can properly settle and bond with her new family at her own pace.
