Description
Edna is looking for a new home with a safe and secure garden to run around in. She’s a lovely dog, good with other dogs, loves people, loves her walks and cuddles on the sofa.
Problems are that she chases my cats relentlessly. She’s lived with me for 16 months and this wasn’t a problem. Over the past 6 months, she has upped her game. My cats are terrorised.
She has no recall and a very high prey drive. She will chase anything but especially squirrels. She cannot be let off lead unless in a secure field. Unfortunately, I’m a wheelchair user and this problem has become very difficult for me to manage as she is quite strong once she goes. I’ve been tipped over 3 times in the last 3 months. I’ve tried harnesses, collars and haltis. Training is difficult when in a wheelchair and she is not interested in treats at all once out.
She is also very excitable when meeting new people. When my daughters and grandkids come round she is all over them and my grandson is now scared of her after being knocked into the wall. She isn’t aggressive at all she just is over excited by everyone!
I feel bad for her because we live in a flat and she has no outside space for herself. For the first year, she was so chilled and happy, but just recently she just wants to be outside and spends hours staring out of the French doors. I feel that someone else could give her a much better life than I am. To live with another dog would also be amazing for her as she is so sociable. I can’t manage another dog sadly so that’s not an option.
This isn’t an easy decision, but it is what I think is best for her. A good home is more important than money and I will want to see where she will live beforehand. I’d also like her to meet a prospective new owner and go for a walk together. Thank you ☺️
