Description

Max is a 3 Year old Small/Medium Male weighing roughly around 15KG. He is neutered, vaccinated and has no known health issues. Max was rescued with his mum and siblings after being dumped in a derelict building. The owner had been known to euthanise dumped dogs so the team rushed to rescue them. Max was described as a beautiful, friendly boy with a gentle nature. He was known to stand there waiting until someone came over to show him some love. Max moved to an adoption home on the 31st May 2024, unfortunately after only 3 days the owner had made the decision to surrender Max due to him being larger than they had expected and not accepting their daughter. They said the following: He’s not been very keen on treats so far. The only ones he’s liked are the ‘meaty strips’ and 1 doughnut chew that we got him from pets and friends. He’s refused lots of others I’ve tried him with. He like to have a blanket and also seems to like little soft toys or teddies. He absolutely loves cuddles from me and likes a little roll on the grass every now and then. He loves to play if you throw things for him. He’s got a playful and warm demeanour. He hasn’t liked the sound of dogs barking on tv. Somebody randomly let a load of fireworks off at midnight on Saturday. It didn’t phase him at all. Knocks at the door or doorbell haven’t bothered him either. Max moved to a new Foster home however unfortunately after only 3 days they also made the decision to surrender max due to guarding behaviours around the male in the home causing him to snap at the other members of the household. Max did bite the female within the home on one occasion causing a scratch and a bruise however she did not need any medical attention. Max would need a quieter home possibly with a single adopter but he has not shown guarding behaviours since being in kennels. Max has now been at our UK kennels OSH since July 2024. In kennels Max shows excitement seeing his carers and greets them. Whilst in kennels he has not growled or bitten. He has not guarded people either. It's thought that he may require a experienced home or someone that will allow him to settle and feel comfortable. He had previously lived in a home with children and did growl at them. Due to the behaviours in the home he would need a child free home. Max has shared his kennel with female dogs without any problem and had never shown any worrying behaviour with female dogs he knows. He does not do well with male dogs and would not be able to be homed with them. He has not met cats. Max walks well in quieter areas, he is happy to wear a harness and slip lead. He can be reactive to some strangers and dogs. This would need ongoing training but he's better in familiar places. He was previously toilet trained in a home but in kennels he does toilet in his kennel so will need training in a home. He has been destructive to soft bedding in his kennel. He is okay being left in his kennel but did have anxiety whilst in a home when left. Max is responsive to humans and training and really loves his people. Max's carers say 'Max really enjoys playing with female dogs preferably ones that are larger than him, he loves his food and treats and is very cuddly and affectionate, he loves a cuddle from the staff and gets very excited to see us all. Likes squeaky cuddly toys. Doesn’t like strangers or male dogs, has ongoing issues with his ears and is currently undergoing investigation for them. He enjoys his walks but equally likes running around the paddocks with his friends. He’s a very loving boy and is fine with people once he’s met them multiple times'.
