Description

This is Apollo, he is a 17 month old Presa Canario x Labrador Retriever. We are unfortunately looking to rehome him due to behavioural issues. At home he is the sweetest, smartest boy ever - a proper couch potato. However, when we adopted him we a weren't told the entire truth about his behaviour. He is reactive to other dogs, he won't bark but will jump up and pull on the lead. He does well with "find it" where he gets to sniff out treats in the grass to help him calm down and divert his attention from the other dog. He just needs training and someone willing to work with him to help him gain his confidence and be neutral around other dogs. With people he doesn't like when their faces are covered and will jump up a bit - he doesn't bark unless it startles him. He is also quite strong on the lead so will need someone confident walking bigger breeds and he has a tendency to jump up at you when you enter the room because he gets so excited (we are working on this and he's getting better). We'd advise no young children due to his strength as he could accidentally hurt them. He does mouth a bit but that is easily solved by walking out of the room and letting him calm down. Same with when he becomes destructive for attention - walking out the room allows him to calm down and put the object down. All of these issues can be resolved by training and working with him. We just unfortunately don't have what he needs as we didn't know about these traits beforehand. He is such a sweet boy and we are so unbelievably heartbroken to be doing this but we want him to be happy and thrive in a life he deserves. He loves to bring a toy to show you when you come in the room and he does his full body wiggle to tell you how excited he is. I'm happy to provide all of his stuff for him, we just want him to go to the right home.
