Description
Alan is a handsome fawn beagle x cocker spaniel who was rescued in early 2024. He is a loving, affectionate boy who enjoys human company and being part of family life.
Alan is great with older children and lives happily with our 10 and 12 year olds. However, he can feel a little unsure around very young children due to their fast and unpredictable movements. We also have toddlers aged 1 and 3, and while we’ve managed carefully, we feel a calmer home would be much fairer on Alan.
There was one occasion where our 3-year-old accidentally knocked Alan with a toy while he was sleeping. Alan was startled and gave a quick nip. It was clear he didn’t mean it and it was a reflex response to being woken suddenly. We do not blame Alan at all, but this confirmed that a home without very young children would suit him best.
Alan is a friendly, gentle dog who loves affection and companionship. He would thrive in a relaxed household with adults or older children where he can feel secure and fully settle.
This is a very difficult decision and our priority is finding Alan the right home where he can be happy long-term.
He's neutred and crate trained. Hes used to other dogs so can be homed with others. He walks nicely on his lead but he does get excited when out walking, so his recall isnt very good, so we only walk him on the lead.
He does go into his crate when we eat as he can steal food and show food agression.
Ideally he would be better suited with someone who is experienced with Bockers/ beagels/ spaniels and can handle a head strong character.
