Description
Kenji is one of those dogs who quietly steal your heartāand then stay there.
Born in March 2022, he is gentle, loving, and emotionally intelligent: a dog with a soul as soft as the look in his eyes.
Kenji arrived at a kill shelter together with his sister Yumi. Their future was heartbreakingly uncertain, until they were rescued just in time and brought to safety in a private shelter. And that is where Kenji truly showed who he is.
After their rescue, Kenji and Yumi were placed separately. Kenji was introduced to a mother dog and her puppiesādogs who desperately needed calm, reassurance, and emotional support. Without hesitation, Kenji stepped into that role. Naturally and instinctively, he became their quiet guardian: gentle, steady, endlessly patient. He comforted the mother with such tenderness and treated her puppies with infinite kindness.

Kenji is wonderfully social and gets along beautifully with all dogs. Ever the gentleman, he has a particular soft spot for the ladies. He moves calmly and respectfully within a group, always seeking harmony and peace.
And nowāafter giving so much of himself to othersāit is finally Kenjiās turn.

š Size:
Kenji is a small-to-medium dog, with an estimated shoulder height of 38ā40 cm. He can look larger in photos, but in reality he is compact, perfectly proportioned, and very easy to live with.
āļø A little note:
At the moment, Kenji is carrying a few extra kilos. Sadly, life in a kennel means limited movement, and he hasnāt had the chance to exercise as he should. The good news? This will melt away quickly once heās in a home with regular walks, freedom, and normal daily activityāno doubt about it.
š¾ Appearance & possible mix:
Kenji has a warm reddish-brown coat, a sturdy yet elegant build, and the softest, most expressive eyes. Based on his looks, we believe he may be a Welsh Corgi Ć Shiba Inu mix, possibly with a hint of Chow Chow, visible in the gentle curl of his tail and the characteristic tongue colour. Like so many rescue dogs, his exact mix remains a mysteryābut whatever it is, Kenji is simply beautiful, inside and out.

Kenji has a pure, kind, and deeply caring nature. He is:
Exceptionally gentle and emotionally sensitive
Social and peaceful with all dogs
Loving without ever being demanding
Kenji never pushes himself forward. He waits quietly, patiently, offering his heart to the person who is ready to receive it.

Kenji would thrive in a calm, loving home where kindness, routine, and emotional connection matter. He would be happy as an only dog or sharing his life with a friendly canine companion. A secure garden would be lovely, but more than anything, Kenji needs a home where he is finally the one being seen, cared for, and truly loved.

Friends InDeed is a registered charity. All adoptions are subject to a home check (online if required). We place our dogs only with true dog lovers, with a private garden and no children under 10 years old. Our dogs are family companionsānot working, therapy, or assistance dogs.
We remain available for post-adoption support and are a transparent rescue organisation actively involved in spay and neuter programmes. We have successfully placed over 500 dogs with families across the UK, all of whom can provide references. Adoption fees may vary depending on circumstances.

Adrian and the team at Friends inDEED have been wonderful. We were able to go meet our dog with her sisters and we were in frequent communication during the adoption, and since with updates etc. We were also provided with some food, and lent a harness & lead to bring her home. She has already been incredibly well trained for a rescue dog as we have had no toilet accidents and she is already wonderful on her lead.
