Description
Faith is a medium-sized female, around eight years old. She is neutered and microchipped.
Faith arrived in the UK at the end of December 2023. She went to a foster home but was returned after two days following incidents in which she bit the foster’s grandson and then the foster when startled. The bites caused bruising but were not deep. Since returning to us she has not shown further biting.
Faith is a very nervous girl who can be easily spooked by sudden movement, small noises and things falling. When frightened she may cower, flinch or scream. She needs a calm, patient environment and time to feel safe.
Faith has formed a strong bond with one of our regular volunteers; it took multiple meets and parallel walks for her to feel comfortable. With people she trusts she is affectionate and enjoys cuddles and fuss, and she is very food-motivated which helps her training.
Faith has begun muzzle training and is making progress; she will put her nose into the muzzle for food but may paw at it. She walks on a harness but can become anxious when the clip is fastened or undone and may wriggle or mouth, so this will need gentle ongoing work.
Faith cannot live with other dogs or cats. She can be worried by unfamiliar dogs on walks and may growl or lunge if they come too close, but settles when given space. She is mostly clean in her kennel, is not destructive and settles overnight.
Faith will need several meets at the kennels with any prospective adopter so she can build trust before moving home. She requires an experienced, adult-only home (18+) with minimal visitors and plenty of time and patience to help her continue to gain confidence.
