Hank is a 3-month-old boy who came to live with us at 8 weeks old. He has been brought up in a busy family home with four children and a cat, and he is a loving, bright and very clever puppy. Unfortunately, due to changes in both my job and my partner’s job, we are no longer able to take Hank to work with us, and our circumstances mean we can no longer give him the time and lifestyle he needs and deserves. This has been a difficult decision, but finding him the right home is our priority. Hank comes from working lines, and this is extremely important for anyone considering him. He is not a breed or type of dog that will be suited to a laid-back household or a home where he will be left without enough to do. He needs an active home that understands working breeds and is prepared to provide plenty of physical exercise, mental stimulation, training and enrichment every single day. He will thrive with someone who enjoys working with their dog, teaching new skills, providing activities and giving him a purpose. Walks alone will not be enough; he needs opportunities to use his brain as well as his body. Hank is currently in his excitable puppy stage, but he is incredibly intelligent and responds exceptionally well to training. He already knows sit, stay, lie down, paw, touch, spin and centre. He is eager to learn and has so much potential with the right guidance, consistency and continued training. He is approximately 99% house-trained, with only the occasional excited wee, which is to be expected at his age. His vaccinations, flea treatment and worming are up to date, and he will leave with three months’ flea and worming protection. Hank has grown up around four children and loves them. He also enjoys the company of other dogs. He currently lives with a cat and likes to chase them, although he has not harmed our cat. Our cat is wary of dogs, so they have not had the opportunity to properly interact, and any future home with cats would need to consider careful management and introductions. We are looking for an active, committed home that fully understands the needs of a working-breed dog and can offer Hank the time, structure, enrichment, exercise and ongoing training he needs to grow into a happy, well-rounded adult dog. Hank is still very young, and with the right home, guidance and commitment, he has the potential to become an amazing companion. We want to make sure he goes to a home that is genuinely suited to his needs, rather than simply choosing the first available home.
