Rubis is the embodiment of feline grace and confidence. He is brave, bossy and entirely unapologetic about what he does and does not like. He moves through the house with the quiet confidence of a small panther, observing everything, allowing those who are privileged enough to pet him and then retiring for a nap in his private castle (i.e. cat tree).
Life with Rubis follows a simple rhythm, food and naps, repeat. He is independent and enjoys his own company while you work or head out, but he does enjoy companionship on his terms. If you are wrapped in a soft blanket he may decide to lie beside you. Occasionally he will join you on the bed. Around food time he becomes noticeably more derpy, purring loudly and weaving around your legs with such enthusiasm that you may find yourself nearly tripping over him. It is all part of his charm.
He enjoys being stroked around his head
and cheeks and will lean in with quiet pleasure. He has a “hands off policy” when it comes to belly and tail scritches. It is less a flaw and more a masterclass in healthy cat boundaries. The same applies to dogs and children. Rubis is not a fan and has been known to assert his feelings confidently, including pushing a dog out of its own bed as if to say, “this will do.” He would much prefer a home with his intellectual peers - adult humans.
When he’s not retired to his quarters or snuggling on your most luxurious blanket, Rubis enjoys a bit of play time!
He loves a laser or wand toy, though only in short energetic bursts before returning to rest. He once went completely wild for catnip and has never quite forgotten the experience. A good scratch post, especially one with a dangling toy, is very much appreciated.
Rubis can live as an indoor only cat or with safe outdoor access, he has experienced both and adapts well. With strangers he tends to disappear until he feels comfortable, choosing to observe from a distance rather than join the party.

Rubis offers steady, dignified
companionship. He is not a clingy cat, but he is a reassuring presence, a soft weight beside you on a quiet evening and a loud purr at mealtimes. For someone who appreciates grace and a cat who knows what he wants, Rubis will be a loving companion.
